Chateau Barde Haut 2008
Varietal: 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc
Tasting Note: This is a step up. Ripe and polished, with lots of blackberry, plum sauce and melted black licorice notes that are carried by dense but velvety tannins. Extra anise, violet and incense notes push through the vivid finish, where there's plenty of buried grip. A strong showing.

Chevalier de Lascombes 2009
Varietal: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot
Tasting Note: A deep, brilliant purple hue. A very intense morello cherry nose with touches of butter, toast and spice. A soft entry to the palate, followed by roundness and volume together with fine, polished tannins. Red berry fruit flavours with a hint of chocolate in the finish. Already pleasant to drink.
The fruit-forward 2009 Le Chevalier de Lascombes remains the loyal second wine of Château Lascombes. However, this 2009 vintage is unquestionably the best ever made.
